AWARDS

2026 duPont-Columbia Award

The duPont-Columbia Awards - 2026 USA

For over 80 years, the duPont Awards have honored many of the most important stories of our time from the Civil Rights era and Vietnam to racial reckoning and local accountability reporting. Columbia Journalism School announced the 15 winners during a special ceremony highlighting outstanding audio and video reporting in the public interest across platforms. Scott Pelley, CBS News Correspondent and Michel Martin, Host of NPR’s Morning Edition, presented the awards. Awardees included 60 Minutes, Frontline Features, PBS News Hour, Bloomberg News, and HBO Max.

Justice Matters Award 2025

Washington International Film Festival - 2025 USA

"We were impressed with the courage and insight of filmmakers Michael Premo and Rachel Falcone to gain the trust of three of acolytes in the months leading up to the 2020 election and then culminating with the attack on the Capitol on January 6th, 2021. It is an intimate and at times surprising and sympathetic portrait of three of these far-right pro-Trump followers who lead rather ordinary everyday lives who eventually transform into outraged and violent participants in the attempted overthrow of our democratic process. Director Michael Premo’s clear story telling skills and his exceptional camera work during the January 6th insurrection consistently shine throughout the film.

The jury was impressed with Michael and Rachel’s courage and skill while shooting the riveting sequence on the attack on the capitol on January 6th.  The audience feels the tension, anger and danger as the camera follows our Proud Boy viciously attacking and breaking into the Capitol.  This is a brave and courageous documentary that lends light into the mindset of three men who once felt left behind and are now excited to be part of a band of brothers that view themselves as patriots willing to accept violence as a means to an end.  This documentary is an important reminder of why we need to be vigilant with our fragile democracy and the violent extremes just below the surface."

The phoenix Prize

Film Fest Cologne - 2024 Germany

The phoenix Prize is awarded for the best documentary in the Top Ten TV and Best of Cinema Documentary competition series and this year goes to the American artist and director Michael Premo for his documentary HOMEGROWN. The award is sponsored by German TV network phoenix.

Mario Serandrei - Hotel Saturnia Award for Best Technical Contribution

Venice International Film Festival - 2024 Italy

Awarded by a jury of film critics (Paola Casella, Andrea Curcione, and Marco Romagna) “for the brave, mimetic ability to insinuate itself inside the haunted heart of the abyss bordering the fall of a democracy, without ever losing the proper distance from which to observe the scary collapsing of events. The direction works on ethics and on the essential role of documentaries as a fundamental tool to try and understand reality without judgement. The film’s indisputable political, anthropological and social relevance is inextricably linked to the handling, primarily human, of the complex filming phases, and to the rigorous gaze avoiding any easy speculation of the outcome by choosing instead to analyze and explore in depth its causes.”
